The Awesome Game of Basketball
Basketball is one of the most famous sports in the world. It is a ball sport played by two rival teams; each squad having five players.
Basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian PE teacher at the YMCA College, in 1891 at Springfield, Massachusetts. In January 20 1892, the first ever basketball game was played in the YMCA gym. Tony Hinkle then developed the orange ball in the 1950s allowing it to be more visible not only to the players but also to the audience. At present, this type of ball is the most widely used in the professional leagues.
Aside from Naismith, the early pioneers of basketball are Phog Allen (Naismith's successor as basketball coach to the University of Kansas), Amos Alonzo Stagg (one of Naismith's students and introduced basketball in the University of Chicago), and Adolph Rupp (also a student of Naismith and coached the University of Kentucky basketball team).
Basketball is engaged in different time formats. In the National Basketball Association or NBA, the game is played in 48 minutes (four quarters with 12 minutes each); in FIBA and other international leagues, it is played in 40 minutes (four quarters with 10 minutes each); and in NCAA and WNBA, it is participated in 40 minutes (two halves with 20 minutes each). Basketball players are designated with their positions. Its exact player category is the point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and the center.
The game of basketball tenders different kinds of violations. Some of them are the traveling, double-dribbling, carrying, stepping on the line, goaltending, and the 24/8 second shot clock violation. To optimize the game's capability, certain basketball moves are formulated. These include the triple threats, jab step, pump fake, pick and roll, crossover dribble, behind the back crossover/pass, spin move, finger roll, blind pass, and the power stop.
